This is a detailed instruction for rigging setup for rigging the Oz Goose. The Video is for rigging the lugsail, spars and fittings using the rigging kits provided by PHBYC for Family Boatbuilding Weekend Oz Goose builds in the Philippines.
However, there are lots of details that will help other builders of the Oz Goose set up the sail.
This stage takes some time. But most of the steps only have to be done once.
Setting up the sail at the sailing venue is covered in the next video and takes 5 minutes with practice.
Tools for rigging the Oz Goose Lugsail
The best place to do this stage is at home or where the boat was built. It takes a bit of time the first time. However the tool list is small.
- Sharp knife (carpet or stanley knife)
- cigarette lighter – the type that is like a little blowtorch is brilliant, but a normal lighter is OK.
- Piece of wood to cut on
- Drill
- 5mm drill bit
- 8mm spade bit for generous holes in the spars to attach the sail corners and other lines.
